In vegies,
- All Lettuce varieties, salad mix and baby spinach are available. Wild Rocket is very scarce and quality is poor. Whole lettuces will keep better than loose leaf mixes during the warmer weather.
- Brushed (still dirty) are the best value potatoes. All White potatoes are expensive.
- Qld Pumpkin, Cabbage, Zucchini and Asian Vegies are the best value vegies at the moment.
- Asparagus, Broccoli, Broccolini, Beans, Corn & Cauliflower are all scarce due to the heat and expensive due to Christmas demand.
- Jap & Butternut Pumpkin, Chinese Cabbage, Egg Plant, Capsicum, Celery, Avocadoes, Cucumber, Tomatoes, Snow Peas, Sugar Snaps, Yellow Squash, Sweet Potato, Onions, Carrots & Mushrooms are all available & quite good.
In fruit:
- Mangoes, Peaches and Nectarines are near their best. We have now included Trays of these items in Other Fruit category of our excel order form.
- Apricots and Plums are available & quite good.
- There are some nice Cherries around now. We can do these loose and have also included 2kg & 5kg Boxes of Cherries in the Other category of our excel order form.
- Australian Menindee Grapes have commenced. They are very good but still expensive.
- Navel Oranges are still available. Their skins are a bit green or marked from the heat but they are still juicy & sweet inside. Valencia Oranges are also available and quite good.
- Lemons & Limes are both available. Limes are better than lemons at the moment.
- Packham Pears are nearing the end of their season but still good. Nashi & Buerre Bosc Pears are finished until next season.
- Sundowner, Gala, Fuji, Red Delicious & Granny Smith Apples are all still good. Pink Lady apples are getting more expensive as they near the end of their season. Store apples covered in the fridge to keep them crisp.
- Green Kiwi Fruit (Italian) are available and ok.
- Bananas are good and cheap again.
- Strawberries and Blueberries are both quite good and up in price for Christmas. Raspberries are also available but expensive.
- Seedless Watermelon (NT) is good and reasonably priced.
- Rockmelon, Honey Dew & Pineapple are all good but a little expensive.
- Yellow Papaw and Red Papaya are both very good at the moment.
- Rhubarb is still available & quite good.
